Perfect 3 Day Itinerary for Prague
I know I’m in a pretty unique work/travel situation at the moment. But my boyfriend works a regular job in an office - and is a great example of someone who has really limited vacation time. He only gets two weeks.
(I can’t even imagine)
BUT I think for someone with SO little vacation time, we’ve done a pretty good job of maximizing the time he does have to take some pretty incredible trips. A few weeks ago, he left LAX at 10PM on a Wed, arrived in Prague Thurs night and we had Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to explore Prague, and then he left to go back home on Monday.
Prague is beautiful, it’s definitely worthy of much more time than 3 days. But if 3 days is all you have (like Colin), I think you can cover a lot of the major sites in that time. Here is a sample itinerary that is super easy, requiring very little thinking (because a lot of it can be spend on tours), that will show you much of the city’s highlights.
Here we go….
As always, make sure you are traveling safely with TRAVEL MEDICAL INSURANCE
PRAGUE 3 DAY ITINERARY
Thurs - Day 0
Arrive in Prague
Friday - Day 1
Early morning: If you are photography buffs (or just jet lagged and can’t sleep), wake up before sunrise and go visit the Dancing House.
You can get some really spectacular pictures here!
Breakfast: Cafe Savoy
This restaurant has been around forever and serves delicious (huge) breakfast spreads. You won’t need lunch after this meal lol.
11AM-2PM: Prague Walking Tour
This 3 hour walking tour covers a lot of the major sites in Prague and is led by an energetic and charismatic host. On this tour you will hit: Old Town Square, the Astronomical Clock, Josefov, Rudolfinum, John Lennon Wall, David Cerny statues, Franz Kafka Museum, Prague’s smallest / tiniest street, Gingerbread house, Charles Bridge, National Theater - and hear many, many stories.
I find walking tours to be the perfect way to orient yourself when you first arrive in a city! :)
Late Afternoon: Museum of Torture Instruments & Sex Machines Museum
In the afternoon, take a visit to two very quirky, funny museums that are sure to entertain you.
Dinner at U Kroka (make a reservation well in advance)
Delicious restaurant that offers a modern twist on traditional Czech cuisine. Vegetarian option is also AWESOME.
Late Night: Cross Club
If you feel like getting a little rowdy, Cross Club is your place! It has a cool design and features a range of musical of electronic musical tastes.
Saturday - Day 2
Morning: Group Photo-Tour with Photographer
This Airbnb Experience takes you to Wenceslas Square, Lucerna Passage, Franciscan Garden, Cubist Lamp Post, Franz Kafka Head Statue, Vaclav Havel Square, Charles Bridge, and Letna Park—these sites are little more more off the beaten path but great spots to take photos and be a bit away from the crowds.
This tour is a perfect compliment to the Walking Tour as it covers completely different things for the most part!
Lunch: Cafe Letka
You would never know this cafe was there if you didn’t know to look. After you pass thru an old door with no sign (that looks totally empty) you will enter a bustling, cute cafe. The menu is limited but the food is absolutely delicious. Options for vegetarians/vegans as well!
Afternoon: Jewish History Museum and/or Communism Museum
Two other great, interesting places to learn about history in Prague
Grab a Trdelnik on the Street
These famous Czech/Slovak Sweet pastries are made from rolled dough, then grilled, topped with sugar and walnuts, and finally can be filled with whip cream or ice cream. You will see people eating them everywhere!
Evening: Follow the Green Fairy Absinthe Tour
Something fun and different to do as a night-time / night life activity!
Day 3 - Sunday
Morning: Explore Prague Castle
Afternoon: Relax in Letna Beer Garden
After spending a few hours exploring the castle, walk over to Letna Beer Garden for some beers with a fabulous view of the city.
Dinner at Agave Restaurant
I’m from Texas and I live in LA, so I normally don’t like Mexican food outside Latin American and US, but this place was SO yummy. It was a perfect spin on Mexican food. I had the goat cheese quesadilla which was OUTSTANDING. I’m still dreaming of it.
Well I hope these suggestions were helpful as you try to make the most of your time in Prague! If there’s anything in Prague that you loved that I missed, please leave a note in the comments :)
xoxo
